Get Involved in 2026: A Big Year of Opportunity for API Members

2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and impactful years yet for the Australian Power Institute community. With a full calendar of programs, events and engagement opportunities, API members have more ways than ever to connect, contribute and lead the future of Australia’s power sector.

From flagship professional development programs to diversity initiatives, student engagement and member-only forums, the year ahead is designed to support organisations at every level while strengthening the talent pipeline that underpins our industry.

A cornerstone of the calendar is API Summer School, taking place in Brisbane in May. Members are invited to engage across the two-week residential program, four-day retreat programs, strategic project presentations and exclusive networking opportunities, including the API Gala Dinner. Executive Insights also runs alongside Summer School, with an online program from February to mid-June, allowing executives to set real-world strategic challenges and connect with professionals and graduates.

Throughout the year, members can play a vital role in inspiring the next generation through Careers in Power initiatives. These include Power Ambassador Information Sessions.

The Power Up Program is delivering so much activity in the first half of the year, starting with Power Up Program Industry Connect Workshops delivered in each state in March, Inside Industry webinars, the PowerUP Video Challenge and the Power Pipeline jobs list, which promotes member opportunities directly to students via targeted newsletters.

The API PowerUP Summit in July offers three days of online learning and discussion, while the TJ Effeney Award continues to support student participation at major industry

conferences.

Diversity and inclusion remain a strong focus in 2026. Members can get involved in Powered by Diversity activities, including International Women in Engineering Day, the Powerful Women Leadership Program, and opportunities to support NAIDOC Week and Pride Month.

For member organisations, the year includes multiple opportunities to connect through API Board and Member Dinners across Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney, Member Activity Plan meetings, undergraduate program forums and the Online Member Forum and AGM.

Across scholarships, outreach programs, professional development and industry leadership, every activity in 2026 is designed to be collaborative and member-led. We encourage all members to explore what’s on, register early and get involved.

We look forward to working with you throughout the year and encourage all members to explore the opportunities ahead and register their interest early.
