Why You Should Attend the API Power Ambassador Information Session

Australia’s power sector is changing fast, and the next generation will be critical to keeping the lights on while we transition to cleaner, smarter energy systems. That is why the API Power Ambassador x Solar Buddy 2026 Information Session is such an important opportunity for both professionals and undergraduates who want to make a real impact beyond their day job or degree.

Hosted by the Australian Power Institute, this online session on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, 1:00–1:45pm (SYD/MEL) will introduce you to the Careers in Power initiative and the Power Ambassador program.

Together, these activities bring all of API’s STEM outreach under one banner, with a clear goal: helping school students become aware of, and genuinely excited about, careers in the power industry.

As a Power Ambassador, you play a vital role in shaping how young people see our sector. Whether you are an experienced professional or an undergraduate still finding your feet, your story matters. Students want to hear from real people who can explain why electricity networks, renewable energy, storage, electric vehicles and smart grids are not just technical concepts, but solutions to real-world problems that affect every community.

The information session will walk you through what being a Power Ambassador involves, how the partnership with Solar Buddy works, and the different ways you can get involved in school outreach. It is also a chance to connect with like-minded people who care about building a strong, diverse and future-ready workforce for the power industry.

If you are passionate about your field, curious about outreach, or looking for a meaningful way to give back and build your professional skills, this session is the perfect place to start. One hour of your time can help spark curiosity and confidence in the engineers and leaders of tomorrow.
