The API Learning Journal is a digital tool developed by the Australian Power Institute to enhance the learning experience of students undertaking vacation work or industry placements in the power sector. It acts as both a structured reflection tool and a communication bridge between students, their employers, and the broader API community.
What it is
For undergraduate students
The Learning Journal is an interactive, editable online template that guides students to reflect on and document key aspects of their placement experience. Students complete the Journal throughout their placement, with prompts designed to:

It is structured to be flexible for both short placements (e.g. 6–10 weeks) and longer internships, and includes features like weekly reflection prompts, mid-placement check-ins, and end-of-placement summaries.
