Engineers Australia / API Graduate Learning Program - Power and Renewable Energy develops the fundamental skills and knowledge engineering graduates need to transition into the power and renewable energy industry.

Designed and delivered in partnership with the Australian Power Institute, key outcomes see graduates grow into confident and productive professionals, with the capability to contribute to business goals. Ideal for organisations looking to strengthen their graduate development offering, the program is delivered online over 24-months through a mix of flexible live and self-paced learning.
Content within the program also aligns to the underpinning knowledge engineers need to start their journey towards Chartered status.

Course Outline

Engineers Australia / API Graduate Learning Program – Power and Renewable Energy is structured into five modules, building a graduate’s skill set as they progress through the program.

Each module begins with a virtual workshop introducing participants to the topics via a range of experiential learning activities.

Learning and development is continued in an online, self-directed environment including webinars and social learning, complemented with one-on-one support to track the progress of participant’s goals.
Modules
API EXECUTIVE INSIGHTS (PART 1)

Participants will join the API Executive Insights – Early Career Stream where they will gain insights towards learning skills and solving challenges from industry leaders.

They will also be guided through a capability self-assessment and the creation of a power-focused skills development plan, setting up an industry sector foundation of knowledge for the next module.
PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT

Lays the foundations for professional and personal growth. Participants are equipped with the skills to take personal responsibility for the planning and development of their own careers. They go on to develop self-awareness in order to regulate their emotions and improve interpersonal skills.

API EXECUTIVE INSIGHTS (PART 2)

Keeps participants up-to-date with the challenges and opportunities facing the power sector in 2026. In a new series of API Executive Insights – Early Career Stream, participants will gain insights from a new set of CEOs and senior leaders.

Based on knowledge and a year’s experience in the industry, participants will choose sessions relevant to their role or company to develop deeper knowledge in specific sector areas. Support will be provided to participants to evaluate and update their strategically linked personal development plans.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Focuses on the skills and processes required to plan and execute successful projects that deliver desired business outcomes. Practical skills to leverage stakeholder relationships and manage projects are developed through a range of learning activities.
