In 2025, the Australian Power Institute (API) continues its commitment to promoting gender diversity in the energy sector through the Powerful Women in Leadership Program. This initiative, running alongside API's Summer School and Early Career Programs, is a year-long effort aimed at empowering women in the power and energy industries, from undergraduate students to professional engineers.
What is the Powerful Women Leadership Program?
The Powerful Women’s Program provides a structured, year-long program designed to help female professionals develop leadership skills and expand their industry networks. Building on API’s mission to advance the energy sector through education, this program puts a special focus on creating opportunities for women in the power sector.
Why This Program Matters
The energy sector is rapidly evolving with the shift to renewable energy, smarter grids, and growing sustainability demands. However, gender representation in technical and leadership roles remains an ongoing challenge. The Powerful Women’s Program aims to address this by equipping women with the tools, resources and confidence they need to excel in an industry that increasingly values diverse perspectives for innovation and growth.

2025 Summer School + Program (12-23 May 2025)
2025 Summer School: Career Starter (0-3 years) For those beginning their careers in the power sector. Residential retreat from 20-23 May 2025.
2025 Summer School: Developing Professionals (4-6 years) For emerging leaders with more industry experience. Residential retreat from 20-23 May 2025.
2025 Undergraduate Women’s Program: For undergraduate female engineers interested in joining the power sector. Residential retreat from 20-23 May 2025. The API is also finding 10 scholarships for Undergraduate women to attend the retreat in 2025 so get you applications in early!
