API at CIGRE Australia's 2025 Conference – Showcasing the Next Generation of Power Sector Leaders

From 1–3 September 2025, the Australian Power Institute (API) will be in Adelaide for the CIGRE Australia Conference, bringing with us some of the brightest emerging talent in the power sector as part of the TJ Effeney Award Scholarship. 

Celebrating the TJ Effeney Award 

Named in honour of the late Terry Effeney, a highly respected leader in the Australian Power Sector, this award recognises outstanding undergraduate, post graduate and early career professionals who show exceptional promise, curiosity, and commitment to a career in power.  

Each year, local and interstate awardees are given the opportunity to attend an industry conference fully funded by Ergon (Energy Queensland), The Effeney Family, and the API. In 2025 - for the first time - the TJ Effeney Award is going to CIGRE Australia Conference. This is a unique chance for undergraduate and post graduate students to connect with senior industry leaders, deepen their technical knowledge, and broaden their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in the global energy transition.

Adelaide: Where Ideas Meet Innovation 

CIGRE Australia’s annual conference brings together experts from across the electricity supply industry – engineers, policymakers, innovators, and academics – to share knowledge and explore solutions for a sustainable, reliable energy future. Over three days, attendees will participate in technical sessions, panel discussions, and networking events, all aimed at accelerating progress in the sector. 

The API’s TJ Effeney Award recipients will be right in the mix – learning from international best practice, engaging with thought leaders, and representing the next generation of engineers and innovators.
