During my placement at Aurecon, I worked on Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies in PSCAD, focusing on a Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) assessment for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. I developed a software model of the incoming transmission lines, substation equipment including surge arresters, circuit breakers, disconnectors, busbars and cables and the connected BESS. This required reviewing and analysing design drawings, technical documents, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) datasheets to accurately parameterise each component.
