In my placement at Powerlink Queensland, I was working within substation primary systems design. I worked on a variety of projects including non-regulated customer enquiries, early-stage substation design, and plant installation and replacement projects across the transmission network. I also completed maintenance studies including earth grid injection testing and lightning studies to support safety and reliability. I gained practical exposure to transmission assets, and got the opportunity to go on a site visit to South Pine Substation.
