During my internship with GHD's Power Advisory team, I worked on several projects supporting Queensland's energy transition. My main work involved grid connection studies for proposed new generators, including assessing how a new gas-fired power station could safely connect to the existing transmission network. I also evaluated client progress toward their generation connection targets, helped develop transition plans away from SF6 gas in electrical equipment, and investigated how energy losses are accounted for across the network. These projects required power systems modelling, technical assessments against regulatory standards, and analysis of emerging industry challenges.
