Project Summary

During my engineering placement, one of my major projects involved developing Python‑based automation tools to streamline how electrical network models are created, updated, and analysed in SINCAL, an industry‑standard network modelling platform. The goal of the project was to reduce repetitive manual work, improve data accuracy, and help engineers make faster, more informed decisions when maintaining or upgrading electricity networks. A key part of the project was building tools that could automatically extract data from SINCAL, convert it into an organised Excel format, assist with bulk editing, and then re‑import the updated information back into the model. I also developed a program that detects overloaded power lines in a network model and automatically suggests suitable upgrades using engineering standards.
