Power fuels everything - from homes to hopes. I chose a career in this industry to be part of something larger than myself, helping deliver cleaner, smarter and more sustainable energy solutions for the future.

Who am I

I'm Sameera Siddiqui, a Project Engineer originally from Pakistan and currently based in Australia. I've always been driven by curiosity and a desire to build things that matter. My career in power infrastructure is more than just technical work, but about creating systems that support people's lives. Outside of work, I enjoy learning about psychology, systems thinking, and engaging in community development. I believe in continuous growth, both personally and professionally, and I'm passionate about building a more inclusive, resilient energy future.

Why I chose a career in power

I chose the power industry because it's the backbone of modern civilization. There's something incredibly fulfilling about knowing that the work you do directly impacts the reliability, accessibility, and sustainability of electricity's something the world relies on every second. The transition toward renewable energy and smart grids especially intrigued me, because it brings technical complexity, purpose-driven work, and a chance to contribute to climate solutions. It's a space where engineering meets impact and that's exactly where I wanted to be.

Where it all started

I studied Electrical Engineering, with a strong interest in power systems and energy networks. During university, I completed internships and coursework focused on substation design, protection systems, and renewable integration. My early career began in transmission and distribution projects where I worked on design coordination, technical documentation, and quality assurance. Over time, I transitioned into the renewable space, where I've contributed to solar farm and battery projects. These experiences naturally led me to my current role helping deliver clean energy projects from concept to commissioning.

My work experience.
What's next?

I’m currently working as a Project Engineer at Yurika, involved in the delivery of the Broadsound Solar Farm in Queensland. My role includes managing engineering deliverables, liaising with contractors, supporting procurement and technical reviews, and ensuring the project meets compliance, safety and quality standards. It’s a dynamic role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving – and I love the challenge it brings.
