I’m excited by the power sector because it’s at the centre of the energy transition. It’s incredibly rewarding to work on complex engineering challenges that directly shape the future reliability and sustainability of our power system.
Who am I
I’m an Electrical Power Engineering student at the University of Tasmania, graduating in 2026. Through roles with Australian Energy Market Operator, TasNetworks, and IntegratedSCADA, I’ve gained experience in generator modelling, SCADA, and network analysis. These experiences have driven my passion for contributing to Australia’s evolving power system.
Why I chose a career in power
The rapid integration of renewable and inverter-based resources presents exciting technical challenges in system strength, stability, and planning. It’s a unique time to enter the industry and contribute to shaping the future grid.
Where it all started
My interest in the power sector began quite early, when I completed an electrical pre-apprenticeship. While I enjoyed the exposure to the industry, I realised I was drawn more to understanding how the power system works at a deeper level. That motivated me to pursue electrical engineering, where I could engage with the analytical and technical challenges behind how the grid is planned and operated.
My work experience.
What's next?
I’ve worked at AEMO in network modelling, TasNetworks in asset management, and IntegratedSCADA in SCADA design, alongside leading battery engineering in UTAS Motorsport. My next step is a graduate role in power systems to further develop my technical capability and industry impact.
