Workplace

Talk to people within your degree that work in areas or for companies that you are interested in and learn about their work and opportunities from them, which will give you a great understanding of the work in the power industry and give you a strong background going into applications and interviews.

Who am I

My passion is in innovation and working in an area that allows me to solve complex problems. Engineering is a great direction to do this, and also provides opportunities to be constantly learning and improving.

When I'm not working or studying I enjoy surfing, Muay Thai, guitar and I've recently discovered a passion for running.

Why I chose a career in power

The power industry presents many interesting problems that will need to be solved for the future, many of which will require innovative solutions. The power industry can also present many transferable skills to other industry sectors.

Where it all started

Working on vital infrastructure holds constant evolutions with advancement in renewable energy integration, reliability improvement, and emerging technologies is one of the many ways that working in the power industry provides a tangible contribution to the future.

My work experience.
What's next?

For a year and a half I worked at Silentium Defence as an undergraduate software engineer, and during that time was able to gain experience at the power sector through summer placement at ElectraNet as a power systems undergraduate. I am currently employed at ASC as an undergraduate electrical engineer. I am not currently employed in the power industry, although many of the experiences that I had gained through placement in the power sector has provided me the skills and knowledge to excel in current and future roles.
