Jump right in. This industry is so exciting, there is never a dull day. You will be signing up to a lifetime of learning and meeting brilliant, passionate people.
Who am I
I am a highly committed and passionate final year engineering student specialising in electrical engineering and minoring in renewable energies. I have my eyes set on working in the power industry and am dedicated to developing the skills and knowledge needed to enable the Australian energy industry to transfer to 100% renewables.
I am also invested in working in rural communities to improve the opportunities and livelihoods of people living outside of major cities. Additionally, I am an avid horse rider, I love spending time outdoors, I enjoy partaking in a variety of sports and I delight in a good book.
Why I chose a career in power
I am passionate about increasing the penetration of renewables in Australia’s energy portfolio to protect the planet from climate change and the disastrous affect it has on communities. I grew up in a farming community which is currently being decimated by climate change, and I know that I have the passion and talent to help these communities through contributing to the power industry. Now that I have spent some time within the industry as a student and intern, I am fascinated by the problems we face and by the limitations that our grid is currently dealing with.

What's next?
Summer internship (2023/2024 summer) at AEMO in the Vic/Tas/SA Onboarding and Connections team. Four years running my own microbusiness as a private tutor and Instructor at Kyneton Pony club (paid). The industry is moving so fast that the only constant is change. I love watching the industry develop and understanding different strategies that are being looked at to move the industry forward. I enjoy the variety of work within the industry and find it incredibly rewarding to see the big picture of what the industry is doing, ie, helping everyday Australians.
