My biggest piece of advice is to live life like Pete Murray and never miss an opportunity! If I hadn't have applied for the API scholarship, I doubt that I would be in such a great position and have a grad job lined up.
Who am I
I'm a 4th year mechatronic engineering student at UQ and I work part time as an undergraduate engineer at Powerlink in the Secondary Systems Design team. In my free time I love going on hikes or any kind of outdoor adventure.
Why I chose a career in power
I think that the power sector is in an incredible period of flux. I have noticed a huge demand for engineers and can see many opportunities for growth. In particular, I am excited to embark on an incredibly varied and rewarding a career.

My work experience.
What's next?
I have worked a bucketful of jobs in the last 10 years. Some highlights include being a gardener, dishy, bartender, sales representative, post-man, and certified forklift driver. Across all of these jobs I have developed a really strong work ethic, the ability to communicate confidently and a solid understanding of how businesses run. I also developed my hands on experience with electronics while working as a research and development hardware technician prototyping battery systems. I'm really passionate about how Australians generate, transmit and use energy. As we move to electrify everything and reduce emissions, I want to do my part in keeping electricity affordable, reliable and sustainable.
