What started as a spark of curiosity ignited by a Wheatstone bridge in a high school lab, evolved into a lifelong commitment to energizing our homes, driving our industries, and lighting the way towards a sustainable future.

Who am I

I'm Anima, an engineer with over a decade of experience in the renewable energy sector, bridging both academic research and industry practice. Eleven years ago, I made Australia my home, a place that has since shaped both my personal and professional journey.

Beyond my work, I'm a mother to a curious and kind-hearted child, a passionate advocate for STEM, and a devoted plant parent. Sustainability isn't just my profession, it's a way of life. My days are a blend of solving technical challenges and nurturing growth, both at home and in the world around me.

In my free time, I find peace in horticulture, slow walks through nature, and discovering the beauty of Victoria's landscapes. The gentle rhythm of the natural world helps me stay grounded and inspired.

Why I chose a career in power

I firmly believed that the power industry is the backbone of modern civilization. The idea of being part of the electricity supply chain first captured my imagination in high school. During physics lab experiment, especially the Wheatstone bridge, I developed a deep curiosity about how electrical energy works, both in theory and practice. This early fascination led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. As I delved deeper into the subject, I became increasingly captivated by the scale, complexity, and impact of the power sector. I came to appreciate that behind every switch we flip lies a vast, interconnected system of technologies and dedicated professionals working to provide reliable, safe, and sustainable power. The chance to contribute to this vital mission, particularly as the world shifts toward cleaner energy, continues to inspire my commitment to building a career in the power industry.

Where it all started

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Calicut, India (2004), a Masters in Power Electronics from National Institute of Technology Trichy,India (2008), and a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from RMIT, Australia (2020). Over the years, I've built a diverse career across academia and industry, with experience spanning India, Singapore, and Australia.
My journey into renewable energy began with a solar project during my master's studies, sparking a deep and lasting interest in the field. Since then, I've accumulated over a decade of experience working across solar, wind, and hydrogen energy projects. Each role and project have contributed to shaping the engineer that I am today, blending technical expertise with a strong focus on practical, sustainable outcomes.
Since 2020, I've been actively involved in Australia's grid connection space. My work has included roles with a hydrogen fuel cell developer, power system consulting firms and currently,I serve as a Senior Engineer in Network Planning at Transgrid. Through these roles, I've contributed to the integration of renewable energy into the national grid, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

My work experience.
What's next?

I'm currently working as a Senior Engineer, Network Planning at Transgrid. My role involves conducting technical studies for new generator and load connections, proposing to connect to Transgrid network. The main responsibilities are conducting network compliance assessment for renewable energy projects, in accordance with the New South Wales transmission system planning guidelines, preparation of technical reports, and assist in long term policy development and process improvements, primarily applicable to the Network Planning at Transgrid.
