I'm starting my career in power to help support a cleaner, more sustainable Australia.

Who am I

I'm Amelie, a student at the University of Western Australia, where I've grown up in WA. I'm passionate about pursuing a career in the energy sector, with a particular interest in power systems and their role in sustainability. Outside of my studies, I enjoy spending time with my dogs and supporting the promotion of women in STEM.

Why I chose a career in power

As I start my full-time career, I'm particularly interested in the power industry because it plays a crucial role in innovation and sustainability. I'm passionate about contributing to Australia's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.

Where it all started

I am currently an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at the University of Western Australia. Throughout my degree, I completed two summer internships at Alcoa, one with the operations team and another with the project capital team. My most recent internship was at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in the WA Operational Planning and Forecasting team.

What's next?

I'm currently in my fourth year of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Western Australia. Alongside my studies, I work one day a week at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in the WA Operational Planning and Forecasting team, gaining practical experience in the energy sector while completing my degree.
