If you're considering it, go for it! Internships in the power industry are one of the best ways to kick-start your career. During my internship, the API deliverables may have felt like a lot, but they gave me valuable opportunities to engage with managers, even the CEO. They also helped me build my presence on LinkedIn, allowing me to connect with incredible professionals in the industry. If you're thinking about a career in power, applying for API is one of the best decisions you can make.

What's next?
I have completed two summer internships at Alcoa. During my first summer, I worked on-site at Wagerup with the operations team, assisting a reliability engineer on electrical systems within the operations area. In my second summer, I joined the project capitals team, working alongside an electrical engineer. Most recently, I gained experience at AEMO in the WA Operational Planning and Forecasting team. These internships have been instrumental in shaping my career path. I am currently working once a week at AEMO and actively seeking graduate roles for 2026. I am particularly interested in pursuing a career in the power industry.
