Emily is our Professional Programs & Operations Manager and looks after all things Summer School and Powerful Women Leadership Program!
Emily joined the API Team in May last year, she is a Chartered Engineer with a diverse background in government, research, and higher education. Previously working as an Biomedical Engineer, a Project Manager, Business Development Manager, and as a Research Manager at the University of Queensland.
We asked Emily for five facts about herself so we can all get to know her a little better and introduce her to the broader API Community in a fun way:
I am married with 3 teenage children, and I met my husband in my first year of University at 17 years old.
I am a Chartered Engineering in both Project Management and Biomedical Engineering, my undergraduate degree was in Medical Engineering although back in those days most of the degree was Mechanical, and I have a Masters of Engineering Science, completing my Masters Thesis in Manufacturing Process control.
I spent the first 4 years of my life in Marsa el Brega, Libya, and when it came to primary school, I was the only child in my class who was baptised on an Esso Oilfield!
I love to bake, and once for a school fete baked 26 cakes in one day in my standard kitchen oven!
My favourite television show is 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and yes I do enjoy the numbers game!
Emily will be hosting our online International Women in Engineering Day next week on Wednesday 26 June, so be sure to come say hi and join in celebrating women in engineering with us!
Every month we will be introducing the other team members to our online space, so you can learn more about the people behind the organisation.
