At the API we have the unique opportunity to explore the different energy mixes that power our states. Whilst many states have overlap and currently our energy system is undergoing change, spend any amount of time with engineers from each state and you soon get to know the unique features and challenges they encounter. Each state has it’s own Power Personality, so the question remained if each state had a star sign what would it be?
Tasmania – Aquarius
Surrounded by water Tasmania, it is not only the geographical positioning of Tasmania that align it to the Aquarius. But the Powerhouse of renewables that Tasmania is uniquely sets itself apart from all the rest with Hydro Power accounting for 80% of the States Power supply. Talk about an affinity with water!
Queensland – Leo
Millions of stars by night and a beaming sun by day, it is no wonder that Queenslanders look to the sky for the future of energy. Homes adorned by solar panels in the millions leading away from its earthy pastimes, on a Saturday afternoon at the Gabba you will him them Roar, ruled by the Sun the Leo is Queensland’s guiding light.
New South Wales – Taurus
Whilst some would describe the Taurus as stubborn the earth star, may find the energy transition more than others, New South Wales has the highest dependence of coal fired power. Whilst the Taurus may be stubborn the Taurus is also reliable.
Victoria - Sagittarius
In the pursuit of Net Zero, Victoria embodies the Sagittarius, an intriguing blend of Curiosity, Intensity and Adaptability. Mixing the old with the new Victoria intensely strives towards a renewable energy future, strong willed in its nature the Sagittarius is willing to step away from the pack and go its own way Victoria leads the way in a move away from Gas Energy phasing it out
South Australia – Gemini
South Australia embraces the wind-swept look of the Gemini our air sign, getting swept up in their commitment to renewable energy and powering our future, South Australia leads the way on wind generated power. Geminis are smart and adaptable the prowess of South Australia, in its pursuit of net zero sees it investing and innovating in green solutions.
Western Australia - Aries Home to the Giant Ram, the stars of WA’s power generation align to that of the Aries, Aries bold and ambitious much like the state of Western Australia, the resource giant fueled by Natural Gas. Western Australia is the perfect Aries adventurous and Independent, unlikely to follow in the footsteps of its state counterparts.
